Overview
- Hyundai Mobis began mass production on Wednesday at its new Nováky plant after a roughly KRW 250 billion investment, announcing annual capacity of up to 280,000 PE systems.
- A PE system combines an electric motor, an inverter and a reduction gear into a single powertrain unit that converts battery energy into drive power for EVs.
- The Nováky site covers about 106,000 square metres with 8,500 square metres of production floor housing stator and inverter lines for integrated PE manufacturing.
- Company leaders framed the facility as the first PE system production base in Europe that complements existing battery assembly sites in the Czech Republic and Spain and aims to win orders from Hyundai, Kia and other global customers.
- Local and EU officials attended the opening, and the plant is expected to shorten supply chains, speed deliveries to nearby carmakers such as Kia and Volkswagen, and support local jobs and supplier activity in Slovakia.
