Hyundai, Kia Set U.S. Sales Records for September and Q3 as EV Momentum Accelerates

Lower EV prices with easier charging translated into higher sales.

  • Kia posted an any-quarter record with 219,637 vehicles sold in Q3 and a record 636,148 year-to-date through September, including 65,507 in September, up 11% year over year.
  • Hyundai logged all-time September and Q3 results with 71,003 vehicles in September, up 14% year over year, and 239,069 in Q3, up 13% versus a year ago.
  • Hyundai’s EV sales jumped 153% in September, with IONIQ 5 retail sales up 151% year over year and electrified vehicles making up 38% of retail volume.
  • Kia’s electrified models grew 26% through September, and the EV9 recorded its best month and quarter yet with 3,094 and 7,510 units sold, respectively.
  • Hyundai cut prices by up to $9,800 on 2026 IONIQ 5 models and kept $7,500 cash incentives on 2025 inventory in October, while Kia’s 2026 EV6 and EV9 are reported to add built-in NACS charging ports enabling Tesla Supercharger access.
