Overview
- Hyundai Motor India Limited is formally evaluating the introduction of its standalone luxury marque Genesis in India under a completely built-up unit import strategy.
- The company has committed to launch 26 new models by FY2030, including 20 internal combustion engine vehicles and six battery electric models.
- Upgrades at the Talegaon plant, set to begin operations in FY2025–26, will underpin increased local production capacity for both ICE and EV powertrains.
- The company recorded a 33% year-on-year rise in rural CNG sales, pushing rural penetration above 20%; it has installed 80 fast chargers, planning to expand to more than 600 in the coming years.
- If approved, Genesis entry will position Hyundai against established luxury rivals such as Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Jaguar Land Rover, Lexus and Volvo in India’s premium segment.
