Hyundai Drops Standard i30 Hatch in Australia From December 2025

Hyundai says European sourcing complexities, plus higher costs, forced the Australian exit.

Overview

  • Hyundai Australia confirmed the Czech-built mild-hybrid i30 Hatch will cease production for this market in December 2025, with dealer orders now closed.
  • The i30 N Hatch will continue to be imported, and the South Korean–built i30 Sedan remains unaffected.
  • The decision follows the late-2024 shift to Czech sourcing that limited the hatch to two 48-volt N Line variants and pushed prices higher.
  • Year to date, 1,984 mild-hybrid i30s have been sold from a total of 8,468 i30 deliveries, after hatchbacks historically accounted for about 80% of i30 sales.
  • Recent pricing changes include the hatch starting around $36,000 after a base jump of roughly $12,000, while the i30 N Hatch rose by $2,000 in September citing NVES, warranty and European sourcing.
