Overview
- Hydrometcentre scientific head Roman Vilfand says overnight temperatures could fall to around −5 °C across much of European Russia in the coming days.
- Regions highlighted include Ivanovo, Kostroma and Yaroslavl (to −5 °C) and the Moscow region (to about −4 °C), with frost also expected in Tambov, Voronezh and Kursk.
- Frosts have already been observed in the Moscow region, with −1.9 °C recorded in Cherusti on Tuesday evening after an earlier low of −6.2 °C there this week.
- For Moscow, forecasters expect nighttime readings near −1…+1 °C and dry daytime highs around +10…+13 °C under a northeasterly breeze.
- Weather Centre Phobos projects the dry, mild daytime pattern through Saturday, followed by a shift to rain on Sunday, while far colder anomalies are forecast in Yakutia down to about −19…−21 °C.
