HYDRAA Reclaims 7.6 Acres of Musi River Bed and Clears Moosapet Park Encroachments

Removing heavy vehicle sheds from the riverbed alongside clearing a GHMC-approved green space underscores HYDRAA’s effort to boost monsoon drainage capacity

Overview

  • HYDRAA teams dismantled over 7.62 acres of illegal structures from the Musi river bed between Chaderghat bridge and the old Osmania General Hospital
  • Officials identified Tikaram Singh, Poonamchand Yadav and Jayakrishna as the encroachers who filled and levelled riverbed land to erect temporary sheds leased for heavy vehicle parking
  • Most of the removed obstructions served as parking for district buses and other heavy vehicles, and a nursery operating on the riverbed was also taken down
  • In Anjaneya Nagar of Moosapet, enforcement forces demolished makeshift structures intruding on a 2,000-square-yard park approved by the GHMC after residents’ petitions
  • The operation follows High Court directives and HMDA-approved layouts as part of a citywide campaign to restore drainage channels and public amenities before the monsoon
