Overview

  • Shaik Jani alias Harinath Rao, 34, was arrested on August 1 by the Central Zone team of the Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force after nearly four years on the run.
  • He is accused of targeting women entrepreneurs across Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda by collecting money and original documents in exchange for promised Mudra loans.
  • Authorities have registered seven cases against him under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Indian Penal Code and the IT Act following his arrest.
  • Police seized his car, a Royal Enfield motorcycle and two mobile phones, including an iPhone 15 Plus, during the operation.
  • The suspect remains in custody at IS Sadan police station as the investigation into his long-term fraud scheme continues.
