Overview

• HMDA is distributing one lakh free clay Ganesh idols, each eight inches tall, at 34 city locations from August 24 to 26, continuing a programme begun in 2017.
• Mobile teams are delivering idols to gated communities and IT campuses at Miyapur, Kukatpally and Madhapur.
• Vijayawada will host clay idol-making competitions at IGMC Stadium on August 26 with arrangements led by the PCB, NTR district administration, VMC and NGOs.
• Collector G. Lakshmisha urged devotees to use clay and avoid oil paints or chemicals, and he reviewed cross-department measures for peaceful ‘Nimajjanam’.
