Hyderabad Readies 20,000-Strong Security Operation for Ganesh Immersion

Continuous CCTV monitoring from the Telangana command centre coordinates multiagency responses to manage crowd safety

Overview

  • City police and senior civic officials completed a joint inspection of the 19-km procession route from Balapur to Tank Bund to check road conditions, overhead clearances and choke points.
  • Authorities have finalised a deployment of about 20,000 police personnel supported by Quick Response Teams, dog squads, anti-chain-snatching teams and SHE Teams placed at strategic locations.
  • The Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre will provide continuous CCTV surveillance to direct field teams and monitor movement along the entire immersion route.
  • Senior officers from GHMC, HMDA, TRANSCO, R&B, HMWSSB, RTA and the Health Department will be stationed round-the-clock at the command centre to coordinate traffic, utilities and emergency response.
  • Officials warned organisers to follow safety rules because of continuing rains and electrical-hazard risks and said the measures aim to reduce thefts, gender-safety incidents and crowd-related emergencies while minimising traffic disruption for residents.
