Hyderabad Police Bust MDMA, Ganja Cell Linked to Instagram With Six Arrests

Investigators are using seized phones alongside prior records to trace a key supplier.

  • Rajendranagar police and Special Operations Teams from Rajendranagar and Madhapur ran a joint operation that intercepted three suppliers near Aramghar X Road.
  • The arrested suppliers were identified as Sangadi Santosh, 26, of Kakinada, Gandhi Sandeep, 23, of Bengaluru, and Kandepalli Shiva Kumar, 23, a lorry driver from Rajahmundry.
  • Following their interrogation, three consumers—Palaka Sai Babu, 25, an IT employee; Kotha Vishal Reddy, 28, a private employee; and Plishetty Sameer, 24, a photographer—were detained at a nearby petrol pump.
  • Police seized 17 grams of MDMA, 150 grams of ganja, five mobile phones, and ₹9,700, noting the drugs were transported from Bengaluru to Hyderabad concealed in bags.
  • All six accused were remanded to judicial custody as police pursue an absconding coordinator and probe an unidentified Instagram contact that allegedly arranged interstate deliveries.
