- During an operation on August 5, the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing and Amberpet police arrested a peddler carrying 21 kilograms of poppy husk.
- Officers confiscated drug-processing tools including a mixer grinder with jars, two weighing machines, a strainer, two mobile phones and the two-wheeler used for transport.
- The accused, identified as 44-year-old Mangala Ram from Barmer district in Rajasthan, had settled in Chengicherla, Hyderabad, and worked as a welder.
- He allegedly became addicted to poppy husk in his native village and turned to trafficking to support his habit, sourcing cheap husk from Rajasthan to sell in Hyderabad.
- The haul is valued at approximately ₹3.5 lakh and marks the latest phase of a multi-state crackdown under the NDPS Act aimed at dismantling cross-state narcotics networks.
