Overview
- Samala Mahender Reddy, 27, was arrested in Medipally after police said he strangled his five-month-pregnant wife, B. Swathi, on August 23.
- Investigators recovered the torso from the couple’s Boduppal residence and sent it for post-mortem and DNA testing to confirm identification.
- Police said Reddy dismembered the body, packed parts in plastic bags, and made three trips to Prathapsingaram to throw the head, hands, and legs into the Musi River.
- SDRF/NDRF personnel and GHMC swimmers searched the river on Sunday, and authorities reported no recovery of the missing parts so far.
- Officials noted an April 2024 domestic-violence case against the husband that was later mediated, and said he has been remanded to judicial custody under BNS sections for murder and destruction of evidence.
