Hyderabad Issues Flood Warning as Himayat Sagar, Osman Sagar Gates Open After Heavy Rain

Fresh upstream inflows from monsoon rain are expected to raise the Musi through controlled releases.

  • HMWS&SB opened spillway gates on both reservoirs to route water into the Musi River and alerted residents along the banks.
  • At 9 a.m., Osman Sagar stood at 1,789.50 ft against a 1,790 ft full level, with 2,300 cusecs inflow and 2,028 cusecs released through six gates lifted three feet.
  • Himayat Sagar measured 1,762.20 ft against a 1,763.50 ft full level, taking in 5,500 cusecs and releasing 5,215 cusecs via three gates raised four feet.
  • Cyberabad traffic police closed the service road at Exit 17 and diverted vehicles through Kismatpur, Bandlaguda, TGPA Junction, Lords College, Budwel, and Aramghar.
  • Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy ordered evacuations from dilapidated homes and a coordinated response by HYDRAA, GHMC, SDRF, Fire, Traffic, Police, and Irrigation as IMD forecast heavy rain through Saturday.
