Hyderabad Introduces Common Bus–Metro Travel Pass

A common pass paired with the paperless MeeTicket app simplifies transfers by linking Metro rides with city buses inside the Outer Ring Road.

Overview

  • TGSRTC and Hyderabad Metro Rail are issuing a single travel pass at all Metro stations that works on Metro services and on city buses operating within the Outer Ring Road, with Pushpak services excluded.
  • TGSRTC launched the MeeTicket mobile app to provide paperless, open-ticketing for city buses using digital payments and dynamic QR-code tickets for daily, weekly and monthly passes.
  • Officials say the package is meant to make transfers easier and improve last-mile access between Metro stations and neighborhoods served by the city bus network.
  • The integration covers all bus categories inside the ORR and uses QR-code tickets that bus staff can verify, while the pass is sold at every Hyderabad Metro station.
  • Given TGSRTC’s roughly 25 lakh daily bus riders and Hyderabad Metro’s about 4.5 lakh daily riders, authorities expect the move to cut transfer friction and potentially boost public-transit use with future uptake and geographic expansion to watch for.
