Hyderabad Identifies 49 Foreign Nationals for Visa Violations, 12 Deported

Police say the remaining 37 are held in designated centres for deportation processing as criminal enquiries continue.

Overview

  • A joint Special Branch–FRRO drive launched on August 31 identified 49 foreign nationals in Hyderabad for overstaying or other visa breaches, with 12 already deported and the rest lodged in holding centres.
  • Tolichowki accounted for the largest share with 30 identifications while Langar Houz and Mehdipatnam each recorded six cases and smaller numbers were found across five other police jurisdictions.
  • Field checks turned up alleged criminal activity including 250 grams of ganja seized, suspected counterfeit‑currency and cheating, drug‑positive tests for three South Sudanese on student visas, and one person found mixing Alprazolam with cough syrup.
  • Police allege some former student‑visa holders worked as paid hospital translators or intermediaries charging fees and taking commissions of about 15% of bills, and one Kenyan tourist‑visa holder was linked to alleged prostitution.
  • Authorities have ordered landlords and accommodation providers to verify passports and visas and to submit Form III/C reporting details, a move likely to increase landlord reporting and tighten local immigration checks.
