Hyderabad Finalizes Idol Immersion Plan Under New Civic Map

Officials have announced a full set of measures to manage the first Ganesh festival since GHMC was reorganised.

  • City and state authorities set up 141 designated immersion centres across Greater Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Malkajgiri to handle processions and idol immersions.
  • The three municipal corporations will deploy 275 cranes, 3,264 sanitation staff and 478 mobile toilets as part of a coordinated crowd and hygiene operation.
  • GHMC plans 47 immersion sites with 110 cranes and expects nearly five lakh people at Hussainsagar and Tank Bund, while CMC identified 54 points and MMC named 40 sites.
  • Tri-commissionerate chiefs R.V. Karnan, G. Srijana and Vinay Krishna Reddy lead joint operations that include police, electricity, roads and water departments plus disaster-response teams.
  • The reorganisation of GHMC boundaries makes this the first major festival under the new map and will test inter-corporation logistics for crowd control, sanitation and utilities.
