Hyderabad Finalises Ganesh Immersion Plan Under New Tri‑Commissionerate

The plan aims to manage large crowds at key lakes by concentrating resources and safety teams at designated immersion centres.

Overview

  • Civic authorities have identified 141 immersion centres across the three municipal corporations and will deploy 275 cranes, 3,264 sanitation workers and 478 mobile toilets to run immersion and procession operations.
  • Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation has mapped 40 immersion sites across Malkajgiri, Uppal and LB Nagar zones and will field 84 static and mobile cranes, Disaster Response Force swimmers and boats, 1,356 sanitation staff working three shifts, and 168 Ganesh Action Teams along 56 procession routes.
  • GHMC has listed 47 immersion points that include 17 lakes such as Hussainsagar plus 30 tanks, expects nearly five lakh people at Hussainsagar and Tank Bund, and plans to place 41 cranes along Necklace Road with roughly 100 mobile toilets on major procession corridors.
  • Sanitation and environmental measures include artificial and portable immersion tanks, garbage bags at every pandal, continuous waste clearing with mini tippers and JCBs, and daily transport of collected refuse to limit lake pollution.
  • This is the first Ganesh immersion cycle since the GHMC reorganisation that moved ORR areas to new corporations, and officials say the concentrated, cross‑corporation deployment is meant to improve crowd safety and reduce strain on water bodies during the festival.
