Hyderabad, Cyberabad Book 900 Motorists in Weekend Drunk-Driving Crackdown

Overview

• Cyberabad booked 426 motorists in Dec. 5–6 checks, including 323 two-wheelers, 85 four-wheelers, 17 auto-rickshaws and one heavy vehicle.
• Hyderabad traffic police caught 474 impaired drivers over the same weekend, including 381 two-wheeler riders, 26 three-wheelers and 67 four-wheelers.
• High intoxication levels were recorded, with Cyberabad reporting 15 cases above 300 mg/100 ml and Hyderabad nine.
• KPHB logged 53 cases versus 10 in neighboring Kukatpally, a disparity officials attributed to checkpoint rotation and local drinking patterns.
• All those booked will be produced before court, as recent hearings disposed of 410 cases from Dec. 1–6 with fines, jail terms or social-service orders.
