Overview

  • On July 29 at around 3:45 am at NTR Marg, Mohammed Raheel filmed and physically assaulted a software engineer and his female colleague wearing a hijab, questioning her interfaith companionship.
  • Deputy Commissioner K. Shilpavalli confirmed Raheel used abusive language, threatened dire consequences and even threw a helmet at one victim before the pair escaped.
  • Police registered a case at Saifabad Police Station under relevant sections of the BNS Act and Information Technology Act following the IT employee’s complaint.
  • CCTV analysis led officers to Charminar, where Raheel was arrested; he confessed during interrogation and authorities seized his mobile phone and bike as key evidence.
  • Investigators are now identifying and pursuing the social media networks that rapidly circulated the video, with the DCP warning that moral policing on communal grounds will be dealt with strictly.
