Overview

  • Schools across Hyderabad and Andhra Pradesh welcomed students on June 12 for the start of the 2025-26 academic year after the summer break.
  • The Andhra Pradesh government launched its Thalliki Vandanam scheme, crediting over ₹8,745 crore into the bank accounts of 6.7 million mothers of school-going children.
  • Educational kits including textbooks, workbooks, pictorial dictionaries, school bags, uniforms and shoes were distributed to students on the first day.
  • Mid-day meals prepared with fortified fine rice were served under government orders, with government schools handing out new books and attire at Zilla Parishad High School Tellapur.
  • Over 112,000 Telangana teachers completed a five-day capacity-building training ahead of reopening, and minor traffic congestion was reported around major schools in Hyderabad.
