Hyderabad Airport on High Alert After New Bomb-Threat Emails Target BA277 and KU373

Police are tracing the emails' origin with heightened checks underway.

Overview

  • Hyderabad Airport GMR said British Airways flight BA277 from Heathrow landed safely at 5:25 a.m., while Kuwait Airways flight KU373 returned to Kuwait after a threat email received early Saturday.
  • On Friday night, Air India flight AI2879 from Delhi landed safely in Hyderabad and was moved to an isolation bay after the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee classified the alert as a specific threat.
  • Earlier Friday, Emirates flight EK526 from Dubai landed safely at RGIA; the aircraft was isolated and searched, and authorities later registered a case as part of the ongoing probe.
  • Two IndiGo services were affected on Thursday: the Madinah–Hyderabad flight 6E58 diverted to Ahmedabad where searches found no suspicious items, and the Sharjah–Hyderabad flight received a threat but landed safely in Hyderabad with standard protocols applied.
  • CISF, NDRF, bomb squads and local police have conducted multiple aircraft and baggage inspections with no explosives found so far, and investigators say the emails appear routed through VPNs as RGIA maintains a heightened security posture.
