Overview
- The Promontory said in a Monday Instagram post that it will turn off the lights after its New Year’s Eve party on Dec. 31.
- The South Side venue has operated for about 11 years, opening in 2014 under owners Bruce Finkelman and Craig Golden.
- No reason was provided for the closure, and a co-owner did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
- The venue is at 5311 S. Lake Park Avenue in Hyde Park, and the building is owned by the University of Chicago’s Commercial Real Estate Operations.
- After the restaurant closed in 2020, the space functioned upstairs only, and a separate operator announced plans last month to open Sanders BBQ Prime in the former restaurant space in early 2026.
