Hyatt Launches Online Member Points Transfers

Hyatt rolled out a faster digital transfer tool that includes annual caps, monthly frequency limits, a 60-day account‑age rule, and review rights to curb fraud.

Overview

  • World of Hyatt made online points transfers available on October 15, 2026, replacing the old signed PDF form with a Points.com‑powered gifting module.
  • Members can transfer points for free but face new limits: a 525,000‑point cap sent or received per calendar year, a maximum of one transfer per calendar month and six transfers per year, and a 1,000‑point minimum with 500‑point increments.
  • Both sender and recipient must have accounts open at least 60 days, and Hyatt says transfers generally post within 24 hours though flagged requests may take up to 10 business days for review.
  • Points.com processes the transactions on Hyatt’s behalf and Hyatt reserves the right to request information, cancel or reverse transfers it reasonably suspects are fraudulent, a step aimed at blocking brokers and abuse.
  • The change modernizes a slow manual process and helps members pool points for awards, but the new rules may limit large single‑account redemptions and interact with recent program shifts such as May’s award‑chart changes and partner transfer‑ratio adjustments.
