Air Canada’s Aeroplan Links With World of Hyatt to Let Members Earn, Redeem and Transfer Points

It gives Aeroplan elites and eligible premium cardholders a 90-day fast-track to World of Hyatt elite status.

Overview

  • The partnership, announced Wednesday, July 15, lets members link accounts now to earn, redeem and transfer rewards between Aeroplan and World of Hyatt.
  • Points conversions run 2:1 in both directions with rules: Hyatt→Aeroplan starts at 5,000 Hyatt points and then in 1,000-point steps, while Aeroplan→Hyatt starts at 500 points and is capped at 100,000 Aeroplan points per day and 250,000 per week.
  • Aeroplan redemptions for Hyatt free-night awards begin at 25,000 Aeroplan points and World of Hyatt members can trade 50,000 Hyatt points for a 30,000-point Aeroplan flight reward certificate.
  • Aeroplan elite members and eligible premium Aeroplan cardholders issued in Canada can enter an annual 90-day Hyatt status challenge (4 nights for Discoverist, 10 for Explorist, 20 for Globalist) and Canadian Aeroplan cardholders receive boosted Hyatt earning rates when paying at Hyatt properties.
  • Analysts and reporters note transfers usually lose value compared with in-program redemptions, so the most practical upside is the status fast-track and Canadian-targeted card perks while reciprocal Aeroplan challenges for Hyatt elites are scheduled later in 2026.
