HVV Announces Targeted Fare Changes to Take Effect January 1, 2027

HVV says modest price rises together with removal of the online discount plus a student service fee will help cover higher energy and personnel costs.

Overview

  • HVV announced the tariff package on Tuesday and will implement the changes on 1 January 2027.
  • Core commuter fares for Hamburg AB and two‑ring single and day tickets will remain unchanged at €4.10 and €8.20 respectively.
  • Selected tickets will rise modestly, including short‑journey and city single tickets by €0.10, children’s AB/two‑ring single and day tickets to €1.70 and €3.40, and three‑ring single rides to €7.40.
  • The transport authority will end the online discount because digital sales now exceed half of all tickets, and it will drop the weekly ticket as the Deutschlandticket now accounts for the majority of journeys.
  • The package fixes the social discount at €25.50 per month and adds a €19 annual service fee for Hamburg students’ Deutschlandticket, steps HVV says balance affordability for frequent commuters with rising operating costs.
