• Reena Singh, 21, disappeared on August 20 from Vanshiwala in Amroha about ten months after marrying Nigam Singh.
• On her mother’s complaint, police registered a case under BNS section 80 for dowry death and section 238 for destruction of evidence against multiple in-laws.
• Investigators say Nigam admitted he was drunk and cooked chicken against Reena’s objections, later claimed he found her hanging, and then filed a missing report.
• Police allege Nigam, his brother Mahkar and cousin Bijendra wrapped the body and dumped it in the Ganga about three kilometres away, and a dupatta was recovered.
• Divers are searching the river for the body, three suspects are in custody, and efforts are underway to arrest other named family members.
