Overview
- Carolina claimed Cayden Primeau off waivers from Toronto on Nov. 8, per the Maple Leafs’ official announcement.
- Following the claim, the Hurricanes assigned Primeau to the AHL’s Chicago Wolves under the provision that allows an original team to send a reclaimed player directly to the minors.
- Toronto recalled Dennis Hildeby from the Marlies to serve as the short-term backup while Joseph Woll completes his AHL conditioning loan.
- Primeau’s brief run with the Leafs included three appearances with a 2-1-0 record, a 4.30 goals-against average and roughly an .836–.838 save percentage, including a rough Oct. 29 start.
- Carolina originally acquired Primeau from Montreal in June for a 2026 seventh-round pick and signed him to a one-year, one-way $775,000 deal to bolster organizational depth.
