Overview
- The SMN reports Priscilla with sustained winds of 155 km/h and gusts up to 195 km/h about 370 km south of Cabo San Lucas, moving northwest at 17 km/h.
- A tropical-storm watch is in effect from Cabo San Lucas to Cabo San Lázaro in Baja California Sur due to the risk of strong winds and dangerous seas.
- Rainbands are already affecting Baja California Sur, Sinaloa, Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima and Michoacán with heavy to intense rainfall, electrical activity and rising rivers and arroyos.
- Forecasts call for 5–6 meter waves and gusts up to 80–100 km/h along parts of Baja California Sur, with 3–4 meter surf and strong gusts along sections of Nayarit and Jalisco.
- The SMN expects the hurricane to begin weakening on Oct. 8, degrade to a tropical storm as it nears Mexico and transition to a post-tropical system before crossing the Baja California peninsula around Oct. 11.
