Hurricane Isaac and Tropical Storm Joyce Pose No Threat to Land

Both storms are expected to weaken in the coming days while moving through the open Atlantic.

  • Hurricane Isaac, a Category 2 storm, is located about 645 miles west-northwest of the Azores, moving northeast at 18 mph.
  • Tropical Storm Joyce is situated approximately 1,080 miles east of the Northern Leeward Islands, heading west-northwest at 9 mph.
  • Neither Isaac nor Joyce is expected to impact land, with both storms forecasted to weaken soon.
  • The National Hurricane Center is also monitoring three other systems with potential for development, one of which could affect the U.S. Gulf Coast.
  • Hurricane Helene, which recently struck the southeastern U.S. as a Category 4 storm, has caused at least 64 deaths across five states.
