Overview
- The full phase is expected around 05:47–05:48 peninsular time on Tuesday, according to official timings from IGN and Meteogalicia.
- Meteogalicia reports the closest approach will not align exactly with the full phase, so observers will see an “almost” supermoon.
- The Moon’s distance will drop to about 359,807 km around midday Wednesday, compared with an average of roughly 384,500 km.
- Coastal tides are forecast to be more pronounced in the days that follow, with Vigo projected to swing from about 0.3 m at low tide to 4.1 m at high tide on Wednesday.
- Lunar brightness will hinder viewing of the Draconids on Oct. 8–9, while the Orionids on Oct. 20–21 should be easier to see near the new moon.
