Overview

  • Terry Francona confirmed Greene will be activated from the 15-day injured list to start Wednesday at Great American Ball Park against the Philadelphia Phillies.
  • Greene has been sidelined since June 4 by a recurring right groin strain that also cost him two weeks on the injured list in May.
  • After two follow-up MRIs cleared him, he made four rehab starts—one with the Arizona Complex League team and three at Triple-A Louisville.
  • In 11 starts this season he has posted a 4–3 record with a career-best 2.72 ERA and 73 strikeouts over 59⅔ innings.
  • Cincinnati enters the week at 61–57, trailing the New York Mets by 2½ games for the third NL wild-card spot, and will rely on Greene’s return for its stretch run.
