'Hunger Games' Prequel Receives SAG-AFTRA Interim Agreement, Allowing Actors to Promote Film Amid Ongoing Strike

The 'Hunger Games' prequel, 'The Ballads Of Songbirds And Snakes', has secured a SAG-AFTRA Interim Agreement, which allows its cast, including Rachel Zegler, Tom Blyth, Viola Davis, Peter Dinklage and Hunter Schafer, to promote the film before its release on November 17, 2023.
The interim agreement was given on the basis that the producers maintain independence from companies affiliated with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) and agree to the terms presented by the guild during its negotiation process.
Despite the SAG-AFTRA strike, which has been ongoing for over 100 days as of October 31, 2023, more than 100 films have obtained interim agreements from the organization.
The move for the interim agreement was crucial, as the ongoing film industry strike had led some movies to underperform at the box office due to lack of promotion, and others to delay their release dates.
The 'Hunger Games' prequel is based on Suzanne Collins' 2019 novel, set 64 years before the original films, and follows a young President Coriolanus Snow before he becomes the president of Panem.
