Overview
- About 200 people gathered in Bouzas in the morning and more than 500 marched along Samil beach in the afternoon after setting off from O Tombo do Gato.
- Demonstrations were called under the banner “Against the genocide and in support of the Flotilla Sumud Global,” led by platforms including Movemento Global a Gaza-Galiza.
- Participants carried Palestinian flags and chanted “Non é unha guerra, é un xenocidio,” with banners displayed during a combined land-and-sea march at A Fonte-Samil.
- Similar rallies were reported across Galicia in Santiago, Ferrol, A Coruña, Ourense, Lugo, Pontevedra, Fisterra, A Illa de Arousa, Sanxenxo and A Guarda, with Redondela set for September 1.
- Organizers say the Global Sumud Flotilla plans to depart on August 31 from several international ports to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, with delegations from 44 countries and a stated goal of trying to break the Israeli blockade.
