Overview
- Humanity Protocol said Tuesday that attackers gained access after an employee laptop and private keys tied to a Humanity Foundation member were compromised.
- The attackers seized ProxyAdmin control of the project’s Hyperlane bridge by compromising multiple Gnosis Safe owner keys and upgraded contracts to a malicious implementation.
- On-chain tracking shows the exploit swept about 141.2 million H on Ethereum and the attacker minted roughly 200,000,005 H on BNB Smart Chain, lifting reported losses above $36 million.
- The attacker sold large amounts of H for ETH on DEXes, driving the token down roughly 80–90% intraday and leaving on-chain liquidity deeply depleted.
- Humanity has suspended bridge deposits and withdrawals, is working with security firms, exchanges and police, and has promised a full post‑mortem while recovery and attribution remain unresolved.
