Humane Lays Off 10 Employees and CTO Steps Down Ahead of AI Pin Launch

Humane, a startup led by former Apple executives, has laid off 10 employees, which is 4% of its workforce, and its CTO Patrick Gates is stepping down to serve as an adviser.
The layoffs come before the company has shipped its first product, the AI Pin, a wearable device designed to replace a smartphone.
The AI Pin, revealed in November, is expected to start shipping in March and costs $699, with a $24 monthly subscription.
Humane has raised over $200 million from investors such as OpenAI’s Sam Altman and Microsoft Corp.
Despite the layoffs, Humane is actively hiring for several roles.
