Human Trafficking Network Dismantled in Nancy

Four individuals have been charged with smuggling hundreds of migrants from Turkey into the Schengen Area.

An investigation by the Metz branch of the Central Office for Combating Illegal Immigration led to the arrest of seven suspects, with four being formally charged.
The network is accused of facilitating the illegal entry of 300 migrants into France, Germany, Belgium, and Luxembourg since 2022.
Migrants reportedly paid between 3,500 and 7,000 euros to be smuggled from Turkey to Serbia, where they were provided with fake documents.
The operation involved a fleet of around 50 vehicles used to transport migrants across the Schengen borders.
Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau has announced plans to implement stricter immigration controls, including longer detention periods and tougher conditions for regularizing undocumented migrants.
