Human Trafficking Network Dismantled in Nancy
Four individuals have been charged with smuggling hundreds of migrants from Turkey into the Schengen Area.
- An investigation by the Metz branch of the Central Office for Combating Illegal Immigration led to the arrest of seven suspects, with four being formally charged.
- The network is accused of facilitating the illegal entry of 300 migrants into France, Germany, Belgium, and Luxembourg since 2022.
- Migrants reportedly paid between 3,500 and 7,000 euros to be smuggled from Turkey to Serbia, where they were provided with fake documents.
- The operation involved a fleet of around 50 vehicles used to transport migrants across the Schengen borders.
- Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau has announced plans to implement stricter immigration controls, including longer detention periods and tougher conditions for regularizing undocumented migrants.
