Human Remains Found on M4 Near Bristol Prompt Road Closures

Police are investigating after drivers reported a body on the motorway, leading to hours-long closures of the M4 and M48 in South Gloucestershire.

Avon and Somerset Police discovered human remains on the M4 motorway near Bristol on Saturday evening after multiple drivers reported seeing something on the road.
The deceased is believed to be a man in his 40s, and his next of kin have been informed while investigations into the circumstances of his death continue.
The M4 was closed between junctions 20 (Almondsbury Interchange) and 22 (Wales Bridge), along with sections of the M48, causing significant traffic disruptions.
Closures remained in place for several hours, with traffic beginning to be released around midnight and full reopening occurring by early Sunday morning.
Police have urged anyone traveling in the area who may have information or dashcam footage to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
