Human Remains Found in Renewed Search for Lucinda Miller on Anniversary of Disappearance

Police say the death is not suspicious following a tip that moved the search into dense bushland.

Overview

  • Victoria Police confirmed human remains were located during a multi-day operation near Neerim South three years to the day after Miller vanished.
  • The discovery was made in dense bushland about 2–3 kilometers from the area initially searched around McDougal Road.
  • Roughly 60 personnel took part in the operation with support from the Neerim South CFA, SES, DEECA and the AFP.
  • Specialist dogs trained to detect electronic devices were deployed, with officers seeking Miller’s phone and items linked to her, including clothing and a vodka bottle reported at the site.
  • Miller was 24 when she disappeared on October 16, 2022 after a rideshare drop-off about 11:30 a.m., and forensic teams are now examining the remains.
