  • Remains were found at approximately 4am on Monday, June 16 in a burnt-out vehicle on Marishes Lane between Malton and Pickering.
  • A collision involving a black Vauxhall Astra and an unknown vehicle occurred on the A169 Malton Road at around 11:10pm on Sunday, June 15 with no reported injuries to the Astra occupants.
  • North Yorkshire Police have classified the death as unexplained and are conducting enquiries to establish the full circumstances of both incidents.
  • Formal identification of the remains has not yet taken place and authorities have warned it may take some time to complete.
  • Specially trained officers are supporting a family in Ireland while detectives seek witnesses and dash-cam footage from both scenes.
