Human Remains Found During Search for Woman Missing Since 2007

Forensic tests will determine whether the bones belong to Kerstin Lee Langley and will direct the next phase of the inquiry.

Overview

  • Police recovered human remains during excavations in a meadow and woodland near Kadenzhofen in the municipality of Berg bei Neumarkt, close to a small airfield.
  • Authorities, which announced the discovery on Friday, said it is not yet clear whether the remains are those of Kerstin Lee Langley and that rechtsmedizinische examinations are under way.
  • The dig began after renewed tips pointed investigators to the site and followed earlier searches in 2024 that were prompted by a tip to a TV programme and yielded likely animal remains.
  • Langley was reported missing by her brother in summer 2007 after she left with an unidentified man in a dark car, a lead police have never fully resolved and which left no suspect charged.
  • The Bavarian state criminal police have offered a €10,000 reward for information and investigators say test results will shape whether the probe shifts to identification and cause‑of‑death work or to further searches.
