Human Jawbone Discovered on Long Island Beach

Two beachgoers found a human jawbone on Monday evening at Smith Point County Park in Shirley, Long Island.
The remains were confirmed to be human by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner and are now undergoing further analysis for identification.
The Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad is leading the investigation and has requested public assistance for any relevant information.
This discovery follows prior instances of human remains found at the same beach, including a bone in March 2023 and a body recovered in July 2024.
The beach is near Gilgo Beach, where remains of victims linked to an alleged serial killer were discovered between 2010 and 2011, though no connection has been established.
