Human Egg Trafficking Ring Exploiting Thai Women Uncovered in Georgia
Authorities in Georgia and Thailand are investigating a criminal operation that lured women with false surrogacy promises and held them captive for egg harvesting.
- Around 100 women, primarily Thai nationals, were trafficked to Georgia under the guise of lucrative surrogacy jobs advertised on social media.
- Victims were confined to properties, injected with hormones, and subjected to egg extractions without their consent, with eggs allegedly sold on the black market for IVF purposes.
- The women had their passports confiscated and were threatened with arrest if they attempted to return to Thailand.
- Three Thai women were recently rescued and repatriated with the help of the Pavena Foundation, an NGO supporting women and children.
- Investigations are underway in both Georgia and Thailand, with four foreign nationals questioned and efforts ongoing to locate and rescue approximately 100 remaining victims.
