Hulu Cancels 'A Court of Thorns and Roses' TV Adaptation

Disney's 20th Television loses rights to Sarah J. Maas's fantasy series as the author seeks new studio partners.

Hulu and 20th Television have officially ended development on the adaptation of Sarah J. Maas's bestselling fantasy series, 'A Court of Thorns and Roses.'
The project, announced in 2021, was being developed by Maas and 'Outlander' creator Ronald D. Moore but faced delays and challenges, including the 2023 writers and actors strikes.
Disney's rights to the book series are set to expire in late Summer 2025, with Maas reportedly planning to take the adaptation to a new studio or platform.
'A Court of Thorns and Roses' is a romantic fantasy series inspired by 'Beauty and the Beast,' featuring a huntress navigating a magical faerie realm and its political intrigue.
The book series includes five published novels, with a sixth installment planned, though no release date has been announced.
