Hudson’s Detroit Office Building Completed, With GM Among Anchor Tenants

The completion anchors Bedrock’s $1.5 billion remake of the Hudson’s block by setting up near-term activation through retail openings plus a November plaza debut.

Overview

  • Bedrock finished construction of the 12-story office building at 1240 Woodward Avenue, delivering roughly 400,000 square feet of office within about 600,000 square feet of total space.
  • The building is substantially leased, with confirmed tenants including General Motors for four floors, Accenture, Ven Johnson Law, Rock Ventures and the Gilbert Family Foundation.
  • Ground-floor retail is coming online, with ALO already open and Tecovas scheduled to open on Oct. 10.
  • A new public plaza named Nick Gilbert Way is slated to open on Nov. 6 with seasonal programming and daily service from a French-inspired coffee truck.
  • Design highlights include a multi-story atrium capped by a Corvette-inspired skylight, a Rec Room with a pickleball court and sports simulators, an event venue already hosting civic gatherings, a rooftop lounge planned for 2026, and a 45-story tower targeting a 2027 opening with The Detroit EDITION hotel and residences.
