Overview
- Hubble signed an initial contract on Aug. 7 to become the anchor customer for Muon Space’s largest MuSat XL platform with two 500 kg satellites.
- The spacecraft are slated to launch in 2027 and will form the backbone of Hubble’s BLE Finding Network for logistics, infrastructure, and defense applications.
- Each MuSat XL will carry Hubble’s new phased-array receiver designed to extend tag battery life by detecting Bluetooth Low Energy signals at 30 times lower power.
- Building on seven existing smallsats, Hubble plans to expand its constellation to 60 satellites by 2028 to provide continuous global visibility without extra ground infrastructure.
- Muon Space is scaling its San Jose manufacturing facility under its Halo space-as-a-service model to produce over 500 satellites per year by 2027.
