Overview

  • China’s smartphone shipments fell 4% year-on-year in Q2 2025, yet Huawei regained the top position with 12.2 million units for an 18% market share.
  • Apple shipped 10.1 million iPhones in China, up 4% and marking its first growth in the market since late 2023.
  • US volumes rose just 1% as Apple held 49% share with 13.3 million units, Samsung grew 38% to 8.3 million for a 31% share, and Google Pixel secured 3% on 800,000 shipments.
  • India overtook China as the leading manufacturing hub for US-bound smartphones, accounting for 44% of imports compared to China’s 25%.
  • Persistent tariff concerns and the winding down of Chinese subsidies have driven vendors to frontload inventories and adopt China Plus One supply-chain strategies.
