Huawei Extends HarmonyOS 6 Preview to Sept. 29 as 5.1 SP10 Rolls Out to Phones and Tablets

The move signals Huawei's drive to scale its Harmony ecosystem with AI‑native tools across a broad device base.

  • Phase II enrollment for the HarmonyOS 6 developer experience now runs through Sept. 29, accepting both developers and try‑users with reviews typically completed in 3–7 workdays.
  • The HarmonyOS 6.0.0.100 developer/try build is being pushed to 43 models with features such as AI anti‑fraud, AI de‑glare and scene modes, and the package size is about 11.19GB.
  • HarmonyOS 5.1.0.150 SP10 is rolling out in batches to Mate 70 phones and MatePad tablets, adding a time‑limited festival watermark (active Sept. 24–Oct. 15), a Gallery “scan as document” tool and personalized album covers, plus notification, calendar and file handling tweaks.
  • At HUAWEI CONNECT 2025, Huawei reported HarmonyOS 5 devices surpassing 17 million and announced ecosystem commitments including the Tiangong Plan with 1 billion RMB, a 150 billion RMB fund, 1,500 PFLOPS of open‑community compute and a 15,000‑person developer support team.
  • A separate MatePad Mini update to HarmonyOS 5.1.0.111 adds Gallery AI tools such as best expression, portrait retouching, AI remove, magic move and AI expand, alongside performance and security improvements.
