Overview
- HRC announced the HRC Heritage Racing Programme on Wednesday, unveiling the initiative during Monterey Car Week and presenting more than 20 restored Honda and Acura race cars at The Quail, Laguna Seca and the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion.
- The first car offered for sale is the No. 26 Andretti Green Racing Acura ARX-01a, the LMP2 class winner at the 2007 Twelve Hours of Sebring, which will headline HRC’s Monterey displays and is being sold as a genuine factory-restored race car.
- Programme services include full sales, disassembly and rebuilds using original homologation papers and engineers’ notes, engine rebuilds at HRC’s Santa Clarita facility, modernised electronics, safety updates and factory track testing with engineer support.
- HRC has already restored specific winners for display and competition — including the 2010 Strakka Acura ARX-01c, an NSX GT3 (chassis 5) and a Reynard 01i — but the company has not disclosed prices or how it will choose buyers for cars put up for sale.
- By keeping original archives and technical expertise in-house, HRC can guarantee provenance and parts support for buyers, a move that could reshape access to authentic Honda- and Acura-powered historic race cars and influence the collector and historic-racing market.
