Hérault on Orange Alert for Heavy Rain and Flooding From 6 p.m. Saturday

Forecasters warn of rainfall reaching two to three times a normal month with strong easterly gusts as the episode peaks Saturday night.

  • MétéoFrance has activated orange vigilance for Hérault from 18:00 Saturday until Sunday evening for a high risk of rain‑induced flooding.
  • Forecast totals reach 100–120 mm, with up to 150 mm locally in the plains and as much as 220 mm over higher terrain.
  • Rain will broaden and intensify through Saturday afternoon and evening, may turn locally stormy, and is expected to weaken on Sunday.
  • An easterly wind will strengthen along the coast with temporary gusts of 80–90 km/h.
  • Tarn, Aveyron, Lozère, Ardèche and Gard are on yellow vigilance, and Corsica is expected to enter yellow status Sunday with a possible upgrade in later bulletins.
