Overview
- HPE told London’s High Court it is pursuing $1.79 billion from Mike Lynch’s estate, including about $761 million in interest and reflecting prior settlements.
- The estate argues the interest claim is excessive and is seeking permission to appeal on issues including legal standing, valuation methodology, currency choice and interest calculations.
- HPE says it has spent nearly £150 million on the case and is asking the court to order roughly £113 million of those costs be paid by the estate.
- A 2022 High Court judgment found Lynch and Autonomy’s CFO manipulated accounts, and earlier this year the court quantified HP’s losses at about £698 million before interest.
- Reuters reported HP has also filed a separate lawsuit asserting the estate may be insolvent, while the judge will deliver a written decision after this week’s hearing.
